Maestro Jin BAEK(DMA, Dr.S.Arts) is an Artistic Director of Gyeongbuk Philharmonic Orchestra and Busan Festival Orchestra. He is an Artistic director of Busan Maru International Music Festival. He has also been a Principal Guest Conductor of China's Tianjin Symphony Orchestra since 2004. He had been in the position of an Artistic Director of Masan Philharmonic Orchestra for nine years from 2003.
He has conducted most of Korea's prestigious orchestras such as the Korean Symphony Orchestra, KBS Symphony Orchestra, Busan Philharmonic Orchestra, Daegu Philharmonic Orchestra, Gwangju Philharmonic Orchestra, Masan Philharmonic Orchestra, Pohang Symphony Orchestra, Chungnam Philharmonic Orchestra, Gangneung Philharmonic Orchestra, Daegu Opera Orchestra, United Korean Orchestra, Ulsan Sinfoniett, Chungnam Sinfonietta, Changwon Philharmonic Orchestra, Kimhae Philharmonic Orchestra, Eulsukdo Symphony Orchestra, Korea Wind Philharmony and so on. He is in great demand in the rest of the world as well as in Asia, conducting such orchestras as the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra and Extremadura Symphony Orchestra in Spain, San Remo Symphony Orchestra in Italy, Orchestre Symphonique de Longueuil Canada, Nordböhmischen Philharmonie in Czech, Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra in Israel, SATOBM Orchestra in Mongolia, Slovak Sinfonietta in Slovakia, Symmetry Ensemble in Germany, Moscow Sinfonietta, Far East Symphony Orchestra and The Union of concert Orchestra of the Russian Federation. Also in 2011, he made a great debut in Japan with NU Opera Orchestra conducting ‘Le nozze di Figaro, and L’Elisir d’amore, Lucia di Lammermoor, The Magic Flute, Turandot, Madama Butterfly, La Cenerentola, Carmen, The Barber of Seville, Rita, and others. He received great reviews about his musicality and abilities as a conductor from many critics.
Under his tutelage, both the Masan Philharmonic Orchestra and Gyeongbuk Philharmonic Orchestra have been invited to participate in major orchestra festivals worldwide, increasing their international reputation on the world's leading concert halls. Jin Baek has received numerous awards including the 27th “Today's Leading Musician Award” and “Busan Artist Award” for his contributions to the advancement of classical music in South Korea. He was also awarded “2018 Korea Musician's Honor” from The Music Association of Korea for his great dedication to the prosperity and improvement of music in South Korea.
He received a Bachelor's Degree from Keimyung University in Korea, a Master's Degree from the Manhattan School of Music in New York City, and Post-Graduate Diploma from the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. Maestro Baek was awarded a full scholarship to study advanced conducting at the University of Hartford to complete an Artist Diploma with Harold Farberman. He was awarded a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Far Eastern State Academy of Arts in Russia where he studied Opera-Symphony Conducting with Sergei Borshev and a Doctor Science of Arts degree from Silla University. He is currently working as conducting professor at Dongseo University Graduate School.
