Guest conductor from South Korea, Jinhyuon Baek, joins the orchestra to conduct our annual collaboration with the University of Utah Summer Arts Piano Competition. This year, we are presenting all of the works from the collegiate division winners. Come hear tomorrow's piano stars on the fabulous Libby stage!
What better way to enjoy music outdoors than to hear music written expressly for an outdoor performance? We are pleased to present the Water Music by George Frederick Handel on October 9th at 6:00 on the outdoor stage at the The Salt Lake International Peace Gardens. Originally written for an outdoor party on the Thames River in 1717, the music is as fresh today as when it was premiered for King George I and his guests. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy a socially-distanced celebration of live music with YOUR Salt Lake Symphony. Royal invitations optional.

The Salt Lake Symphony returns to an indoor concert venue with a program of varied music, ranging from the classical period to the 20th Century, that is sure to appeal to both symphony lovers and newcomers alike. Our program, Creative Connections, will explore music that is evocative of time, place and era – all in a comfortable format that introduces audiences to the composers, sounds, and possibilities of orchestral music. Designed as a program to entertain and educate the entire family, don’t miss this evening of classics!
Now that the pandemic season has wrapped up for the Salt Lake Symphony, we are looking forward to a full orchestra to open the 2021-2022 Season on September 25. It was always our destiny to return, and our program will feature three works that explore destiny, fate, and the meaning of life. The program is filled with some of the most memorable melodies and beloved ever written.
Join us at the new Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center as we take a journey of the spirit through music. In a program that explores how composers describe the indescribable, we will play music that both invites reflection and expresses joy. We are pleased to welcome Utah Symphony Associate Concertmaster Kathryn Eberle, joining us to play Ottorino Respighi's seldomly heard masterpiece Concerto Gregoriano. Spanning over 400 years, the program will also feature will our brass section playing works by Giovanni Gabrielli, and our string section performing Adolphus Hailstork’s Concerto da Chiesa. The program will close with Paul Hindemith's Symphonic Metamorphosis on Themes by Weber, which the orchestra was primed to perform in March of 2020 when the pandemic struck. Returning to finish this work presents closure and promises to be cathartic for both musicians and patrons.
