Nathaniel Eschler

Dr. Nathaniel Eschler is a Composer, Conductor, Guitarist and Educator. Nathaniel has a BA in Classical Guitar Performance from the College of Charleston, and an MM(music theory/composition) from the University of Utah and a PhD(music theory/composition) from Brandeis University. He has also studied composition and conducting at the Frieie Universität in Berlin.

During his professional training, he studied with guitarists Mark Regnier (College of Charleston), Frank Koonce (Arizona State University), and with composers Martin Boykan (Brandeis University), Samuel Adler (Julliard), David Rakowski (Brandeis University) and conducting with Emily Freeman Brown(Bowling Green). Nathaniel is also proud U alumni; having studied with Dr. Chuaqui, Dr. Roens and Dr. Rosenzweig.

Currently, Nathaniel is the Artistic Director of the Salty Cricket Composers based in Salt Lake City. He is the co-founder of El Sistema@Salty Cricket and serves as the vice president of Mary Jackson Elementary School Community Council.

Nathaniel’s music is modernist in nature and represents a genuine attempt to connect with his community and audience. His scores are marked by abundant shifts in character; a fluent and perpetually changing harmony; and is melodic in nature.
